How do you prepare (mentally, physically, spiritually) to achieve your goals?
Crystal is a firm believer in the power of intentional planning. She strongly believes that careful planning is the key to consistently achieving our goals. Crystal doesn't waste any time when it comes to preparing for her goals. She starts planning for the upcoming year in December. According to her, if you're only starting to plan in January, you're already behind because you have nothing lined up for the first month of the year.
Her approach is systematic. She begins by outlining her monthly goals, then hones in on them by breaking them down into weekly and daily plans. It's a meticulous process that takes time, but Crystal has been using it for years, and her track record speaks for itself.
What sets Crystal apart is her spiritual approach to goal planning. She attributes her inspiration and guidance to God and always seeks His counsel before making any moves in her business and personal life.
And of course, having a support system is crucial to her. Crystal believes in the power of having coaches who keep her accountable and provide support as she works towards her goals.
What do you do when challenges and obstacles interrupt your plans?
Most of us have encountered setbacks with our plans and goals at some point. We may get sick, heartbroken, or experience other things that distract us from our original goals.
Crystal believes that it is important to talk to someone to help us process problems in these times. Whether a best friend, a pastor, or another trusted person, having support and gaining a fresh perspective can make a world of difference when dealing with challenges.
Another thing Crystal does is take some time to clear her mind, reflect on her goals, and make a solid plan to bounce back. She believes in accepting obstacles and being honest about what caused the situation. Understanding the cause allows for self-forgiveness and gratitude. As she says we may not be able to give thanks for the bad situations but we can give thanks for what we gained in getting through them
Lastly, Crystal emphasizes the importance of having a strong "why" behind our goals. When we have a deep reason driving us, it's easier to stay motivated and focused on achieving them.
Tell us about an accomplishment that you’re especially proud of and why.
Crystal is open about the fact that she has achieved a lot in her life. She has been very intentional and is extremely proud of her accomplishments.
But her business, DayeLight Publishing, is what truly fills her with pride. She has been running the business full-time for almost eight years, and reaching this point has demanded a great deal of persistence, purpose, and perseverance.
Her journey has been far from perfect, but the knowledge that she overcame numerous obstacles to get here and that she followed God's guidance when he prompted her to leave her full-time job and become an entrepreneur fills her with an extra sense of pride.
Have you ever faced self-doubt or felt like an imposter despite your accomplishments? If so, how did you overcome it?
Struggling with insecurity is something that Crystal has faced for a long time. Despite being a high achiever, she has encountered negativity from others who tried to downplay her accomplishments.
This jealousy made her hesitant to be her true self, and she was always worried about being accepted for shining brightly. Growing up in challenging circumstances only fed her self-doubt, leading her to believe that her success was just a stroke of luck.
However, Crystal found that the key to overcoming insecurity wasn't just confidence but understanding her true identity. When feelings of insecurity arise, she reminds herself of her worth in the eyes of God. She believes that her success isn't solely due to her brilliance but because she is a child of God. Crystal's achievements and resilience are not a result of her strength but the power of God working through her.
How do you maintain a healthy balance between pursuing your ambitions and appreciating your current achievements?
Crystal makes it a point to celebrate everything. She shared that one of the best parts of achieving her goals is acknowledging her success and making a big deal out of it.
Whenever she achieves something, she makes sure to celebrate. She's all about setting goals and when she reaches them, she takes a moment to celebrate before diving into the next one. She's learned not to compare herself to others or wait for recognition. Instead, she's all about appreciating and acknowledging her own success.
She believes that women often struggle to find balance because they seek accomplishments to feel better about themselves, gain love and acceptance, or prove their worth. But she's found personal empowerment to be the way out of this cycle. She uses tools like her personal empowerment journal to remind herself of her ambitions and why she wants to achieve them.
When it comes to choosing between satisfaction and ambition, she tunes into her internal guidance by asking questions like, "Am I at peace?" "Is this in line with my values?" “Will God be pleased with this” "Is it positively impacting and motivating others?"
She admits that the journey isn't always smooth; sometimes she finds herself caught up in chasing the next big thing. But she's learned the power of intentionally savoring her accomplishments before moving on to the next challenge.
