Hometown Shero: Meet Pastor Miki Collier

Tell us about your current effort to empower the next generation:

Our current initiative to empower the following generation centers on establishing a summer program for young girls aged 11 to 19. This three-week program comprises six sessions focusing on various empowering topics and skills. We aim to foster self-confidence, encourage critical thinking, and cultivate leadership qualities in an inclusive and supportive environment. To celebrate the achievements of these amazing young women, we will conclude the program with a special ceremony where each participant will receive a certificate of completion. This recognition marks their accomplishments within the program and encourages them to continue their journey of growth and empowerment.

In what ways has being a mother influenced your approach to leadership and business management?

Being a mother influences every facet of my life, including my leadership and business management approach. The core principles of motherhood—organization, attention to detail, and fostering unity—are directly transferable to my business environment. In leadership, motherhood has taught me the importance of being a role model and embodying the qualities I expect from others. This has helped me set a standard of integrity and dedication in my business and the businesses of others.

How do you integrate your family values into your business model and decision-making processes?

I integrate family values into my business model and decision-making processes by consciously reflecting on my ethics, standards, and principles. This helps me obtain a strong foundation and intertwines this into my business core values that resonate with family beliefs and business ethics; values such as integrity, loyalty, authenticity, and faith. These values guide all my business operations, from how volunteers or employees are treated to how customers or clients are served. This creates consistency not only in my business but throughout my life. Business involves a lot of decision-making and my values influence those decisions. It helps with fairness, respect, and responsibility, which help build a trustworthy and positive company or ministry culture.

What advice would you give to other mompreneurs, who may feel overwhelmed?

For mompreneurs feeling overwhelmed, I would take a breath and know that everything I see is subject to change. Pause and pivot, prioritize self-care, and set realistic goals. Simultaneously managing a business and family demands a great deal of energy and commitment so it is crucial to recognize your limits; this is where my spiritual connection to God comes into play. Developing effective time management strategies, such as creating a well-structured schedule that allocates specific times for work and family, can help maintain and balance. Again, I am unsure of your beliefs, but you need to feed your spirit just as much as you naturally do and remember that Super-Woman was a made-up character.

Share what is next for you in 2024 and how readers can support your business:

As we continue 2024, I am dedicated to amplifying community impact through our ministry-focused initiatives. Key activities include hosting a marriage retreat, a summer mentorship program, and our flagship event, Queendomship, which will take place July 18-20 and is expected to gather over 100 women. This year, we are excited to open up opportunities for business sponsorships to support and expand these impactful events further. Additionally, I am relaunching my podcast, the "TellEmSis Show,” where I delve into real conversations and raw truths. You can support these endeavors by subscribing to the podcast and following me on all social media platforms. I am also open to podcast and speaking engagements, which can further help promote and drive the success of these initiatives. Your support in any of these areas would be immensely valuable as we continue to make a positive difference in our business and faith communities.
