She Did That: Meet Freedom Ambassador, Latoya Mathews

Tell us a little about you and where you are from?

I am originally from a small town in MS, but moved to Georgia in 2006. So now, I consider myself a Georgia Peach. I am married to a handsome man named Rod, and we are about to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We have a daughter who is a senior in high school, all prayers welcomed, and I have bonus son. I am a Freedom Ambassador who is on a mission to propel women who've experienced abortion and trauma into true freedom and lasting transformation. All of this was started from my personal testimony of having an abortion and God telling me to tell my story. It erupted into something that I never expected and now I have the honor of coaching women around the world.

What goal are you most proud of achieving this year?

This year I am proud of the launch of my first memoir "Unveiled Freedom" that was launched in January. Second, I left my corporate job of 13 years. That was a huge step for me.

Why was reaching this goal important to you?

Both goals were personal in that I got to see it through to completion. That I was able to find my voice when I thought I had no voice. Partnering with God in prayer when at times I would get ahead of Him. So this was very important to me. I was proud of myself.

What was the biggest challenge you faced while working to reach this goal and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge with leaving my job was being patient. I prophetically wrote a letter of resignation in 2022 that in June of 2023 I would be leaving, but that never happened because there were more things to learn. Then in 2024 I started to mentally struggle being at work due to the demands and because I had business things that were happening. I could feel myself getting angry because I felt like I wasn't being supported by my husband. One day God said don't say another word. So, I had to sit back and be quiet while He went to work behind the scenes. So, I had to be patient and quiet which was really hard lol.

Who are your role models or mentors in the business world, and how have they influenced you?

Whew that's tough. I would say my mentors right now are Coach Jas of The Greater Me Consulting, and Myron Golden. Coach Jas I know personally, and she has influenced me in so many ways. Her actions speak louder than her words. She is not just a talker but a doer. She has given me much needed advice, especially when I was leaving my job. Coach is real and she gives it to me real. She doesn't let me settle in any way. Myron Golden sets the standard. I love how he uses the Bible to teach practical things in business. It’s solid foundational things. He doesn't know he's my mentor though, lol. I love the way he articulates things and get the point across. Both exude excellence when it comes to business.
