She Did That: Meet Coya’s Courage Founder, Lyncoya Moore
Tell us a little about you and where you are from?
My name is Lyncoya Moore and I reside in Huntsville, Alabama. My family is from New Market, AL, a small rural town about 15 minutes east of where I live now. At heart, I am truly a Southern, country girl. I am a wife and mother of three girls and one son. I love to read, write, and learn all things. I also love to travel and have great experiences and get to know people from all walks of life.
What goal are you most proud of achieving this year?
This year I would say I am most proud of myself for defeating the notion of having to be perfect. I am working to develop my personal brand/non profit called Coya's Courage. I have had this dream God placed in my spirit to share His love and light with other people, especially young ladies and women who desire a Kingdom mindset and want growth in self love and community. I would like to expand on this dream with social media and other platforms to allow my voice and story to be used as encourgement for others. I believe we are all Kingdom people and our job is to share with others how divine, courageous and loving we are and how that can help to translate our gifts into tools that the world needs to thrive both as individuals and on a humanity level.
Why was reaching this goal important to you?
I am grateful to reach this goal because it taught me that I can finish something and it doesn't have to be complete until it is. It has taught me not to rush and that I am on a different time line than others, so comparison or wanting to get it right the first time is not necessary. It has taught me stronger perserverance and how to also put myself first more often. And not be ashamed or feel guilty doing so. It has taught me to put one foot in front of the other and that is not a sprint, also that God will add who and what you need as you honor Him and your intentions.
What was the biggest challenge you faced while working to reach this goal and how did you overcome it?
I would say my biggest hurdle would be prioritizing my time and personal resources. It is sometimes difficult to get through a busy day/week as a career woman, home maker and mother to ensure you have time set aside to build your own dream. I have also had new expenses sprung upon me, so where I was allocating funds to propel myself, I had to sacrifice for family (tuition, school/sports, day to day living) sometimes makes it challenging. I will keep going nonetheless!
Who are your role models or mentors in the business world, and how have they influenced you?
I would have to say Oprah, although never met her, just seeing her overcome adversity and walk in media and create lanes for herself and God allowed her diligence to pay off is inspiring to me. I am in a leg of my life where I am ready to be what I came here for and I feel she had that same tenacity and thought process, which helped her be a change maker for her lineage. And her original name was Orpah, a woman in the bible who wanted to stick close to her mother in law and I believe I am a loyal person. Maya Angelou would be another soul I love; I love how fierce, smart, educated, talented, a learner of all things, truth and wisdom bearer and writer that she was and still is. She broke many molds and "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" and her poetry are my favorites. She endured hard times but that pain gave the world a template to create from. I believe she understood our Creator's essence so much that she was vulnerable enough to say and live out loud.
What is your favorite quote?
"Attitude and Gratitude determine Your Altitude". Always be kind, gracious, uplifting and a light for everyone in your path. Lift others and you'll alway soar to great heights. No one wants to deal with a bad attitude, especially from a woman :-)
