She Did That: Meet The Platform Builder, Sharvette Mitchell

What goal are you most proud of achieving this year?
I am incredibly proud of successfully executing my first government contract, which I won through competitive competition. This contract, awarded by Fairfax County, Virginia for their THRIVE program, allowed me to leverage my expertise in brand strategy and partner with our photographer, Kimie James, to produce impactful brand photoshoots and brand story videos, which elevated the visibility and marketing assets of the small businesses involved in the THRIVE program.
Why was reaching this goal important to you?
Winning and executing this contract was a milestone because it affirmed my company's value in a highly competitive arena. It also demonstrated that small businesses like mine can bring exceptional quality and expertise to government projects, which opens up new pathways for growth and revenue.
What was the biggest challenge you faced while working to reach this goal, and how did you overcome it?
There is a saying... "If it was easy, everyone would do it." That is accurate when it comes to pursuing government contracts. The biggest challenge is to keep going and keep tossing your hat in the ring. You don't win every contract you go after. There has to be something inside of you to overcome the rejection and fear of writing proposals and keep trying.
How do you plan to make the next year your best year?
Building on this success, I plan to pursue additional government contracts and grants, continue expanding The Platform Builder® Program to serve new clients and produce more books and events. My aim is to create sustainability for Mitchell Productions through collaborations and pivots!
