She Makes Life Better: Meet Omolola Elliott

In what ways has your business helped clients better navigate life challenges?

My business motivates people to discover their inner strengths by offering impactful treatments and supportive services. We provide individuals, couples, and families with therapeutic tools to navigate life’s challenges and journeys.

What inspired you to enter this industry?

My experience volunteering, thanks to my mother and grandmother's work in social services, is when I discovered my passion. I find joy in equipping, educating, and empowering others. African American and low-income communities often lack mental health awareness, education, and resources. I strongly believe that a healthy mindset is the foundation of success. With that in mind, I am dedicated to the mission of equipping, educating, and empowering individuals to live healthier, happier lives.

How do you empower people to cultivate a positive mindset for overall wellness?

I help individuals by creating a safe space where they can identify, process, and overcome various challenges like trauma, family conflicts, crises, physical illnesses, unemployment, grief/loss, and personal issues that impact their quality of life. Through psychotherapy and therapeutic tools, I empower them to maximize their life experiences and move past their past, empowering them to enjoy a healthier and happier future.

Can you share a few strategies for overcoming common barriers that prevent many from achieving healthy relationships?

Self-care is crucial. My definition of self-care is making time and space for yourself when it seems impossible. It's important to set a positive tone for your day and “dress yourself mentally”; otherwise, your worries, fears, insecurities, and concerns might overwhelm you. I suggest creating a brief morning routine of 5-10 minutes where you set the tone of your day by utilizing positive affirmations and declarations that you can rehearse throughout the day. These will help counteract negative thoughts throughout your day. You can also be creative and record yourself reciting your affirmations/declarations (with some authority) and play music in the background (if you like), as this will be beneficial, especially on days when you lack the energy to say it to yourself.

Tell us about any upcoming efforts and how readers can connect with you:

I started a mental health community program called Success In Reach Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Our focus is on raising awareness about mental health (what are the symptoms of depression, where do I get help), providing education, and offering resources and support services specifically for African Americans and low-income minorities. Our goal is to reduce resistance and stigmas related to mental health care and empower individuals and families with the tools they need for happier, healthier lives. Since the program is still in its early stages, it requires various resources and support to reach its full potential. Therefore, I'm dedicating a lot of time and attention to getting the program fully operational.
