She’s a Girl’s Girl: Meet Podcast Producer, Cheré Turner Munn

Cheré Turner Munn is affectionately known as the "Motivator". She is a vibrant creative force who inspires individuals to go after their dreams, overcome their fears, and live on purpose.

What does being a Girl’s Girl mean to you?

Being a "Girl's Girl" to me means being able to relate to "that girl" regardless of her life's journey. There is some form of organic relation to feel and understand what a female is experiencing; whatever age she may be. Whether I have been in her shoes or not, I understand that we as women have gone through a lot as a whole, and most of the time it's the very thing that has shaped us. I've always had the favor of people gravitating to me and wanting to befriend me, just off of my presence, smile, and personality alone. Not all women get that because they have residue of bad things that have happened to them, they are shy, they are insecure, or don't know what it looks like to have someone genuinely like them for them.

What makes you so passionate about showing love to and support for other women?

The funny thing is that I recall a season where I did not like women and never really wanted to connect with women. I would always say things like "I can't do a lot of females", "Women are caddy", and other unflattering things. Out of nowhere, I found myself creating a “Girlfriend Shower”, where every quarter I would put together a night and invite 12-15 of my close friends and associates to come and spend the evening with me at a beautiful location with good food, music, and gifts from me. This is my way of creating an intimate moment where I get to share with them what they mean to me, how I appreciate their friendship, and give them their flowers while they can still smell them. Not understanding why this concept even entered my mind and the action that I put behind it, it was in the moment of being with these women that I realized that this was God's way of teaching me that women are sacred and that we flourish when united.

Not all women are caddy and messy, and even for those who are, all they need is one example. Being a strong friend, I see how I'm not always on the receiving end of people checking up on me or asking me "How are you?". If I feel like that, I can imagine how many other women may feel unseen or unworthy of being checked on. I know what it's like to be beaten on by a man, to be betrayed by family, to be disliked simply because of my personality, and to be talked about when I finally began to value myself and set boundaries with people. I know what it's like to not know how to ask for help and most importantly I've learned not to take everything personally... people are just going through things! This is the very reason I purposely make it my business to show up with love and support for women because they too should know that they are not alone.

Tell us about a goal you achieved that wouldn’t have been possible without the help of other women.

As a single mom, who moved from Toledo, OH to Atlanta, GA with a 3-year-old, 600 miles away with no family, to a city that I had only spent one day in, was a humbling time. But it was a village that I was blessed with that helped me when I needed a babysitter, had to work late, needed to take my daughter to activities, showed up to all of her elementary awards shows and boring concerts (lol), when I wanted to go on dates, amongst other things. That very village consisted of women... other single moms that God had sent me. We were each other's support and our children were each other's support, as they were too all relocating from other states. These women helped me to survive relocating to GA and never having the need or thought of giving up and going back home, no matter how hard it got.

What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs who dream of starting their talk show?

My advice would be to SAY SOMETHING! And Do it Scared! You won't have all the answers and maybe not all the bells and whistles that you think it takes to have a talk show. However, by simply starting with what you do have (your voice) doors will begin to open. Where the word says "Your gifts will make room for you and bring you before the great", is where you can find encouragement in your own self-doubting. Trust me... I'm living proof. If you are looking to start a podcast, I have a step-by-step e-book to help you Start Your Own Podcast. You'll be SHOCKED to learn that you don't need much at all.
