She’s Bold, Brilliant, and Black: Meet Dr. Chakika Williams

What experiences in your life have helped you to become the bold woman you are today?

Life didn’t hand me a blueprint for success, I had to build it from scratch. Being a single mother of three, juggling dreams with responsibilities, and constantly proving that I belonged in spaces not designed for me forced me to develop a level of resilience I didn’t know I had. There were moments of exhaustion, moments of doubt, and moments where I questioned if I was truly built for this.

But every challenge sharpened me. Every “no” pushed me to create my own “yes.” Every time I felt overlooked or underestimated, I doubled down and made sure my presence was undeniable. I’ve had to bet on myself more times than I can count, whether it was launching my medspa, building my academy, or simply showing up when I didn’t feel like I had the strength.

At my core, I am a fighter not just for myself, but for my children, my legacy, and the Black and Brown providers who need to see that they, too, can claim their space in this industry. My boldness was born out of necessity, because if I didn’t step up, who would?

Who were your role models growing up and how did they influence your path?

My mother, Mama SkyRose, has been my greatest role model. She embodies strength, grace, and perseverance, teaching me the power of faith and hard work. Watching her navigate life’s challenges while keeping her family at the center of her world inspired me to do the same. I’ve also drawn inspiration from Black women entrepreneurs and pioneers who have paved the way in industries where we were once excluded. Their stories fueled my ambition and affirmed that I, too, could build something that leaves a lasting impact.

As a Black woman, have you faced any unique challenges that have impacted your journey? How have you navigated moments of adversity?

Absolutely. The medical aesthetics industry is not traditionally inclusive, and as a Black woman, I’ve had to work twice as hard to gain recognition and respect. There have been moments where I felt underestimated or overlooked, but instead of allowing those experiences to define me, I used them as fuel to carve my own lane. I created my Medical Aesthetics Academy to ensure that other Black and Brown providers don’t face the same barriers. My faith, support system, and unwavering belief in my mission have helped me push through adversity every time.

How do you want your life and work to impact your community and the world?

I want my work to be a beacon of possibility for Black women who aspire to break into the aesthetics industry and beyond. Through my medspa and academy, I am creating opportunities for others to thrive, build generational wealth, and see themselves represented in spaces that weren’t originally designed for us. My mission is bigger than beauty—it’s about empowerment, education, and opening doors for the next generation to walk through confidently.

What advice would you give to other Black women about owning their brilliance in spaces that attempt to dim their light?

Own your power, and never shrink yourself to make others comfortable. You belong in every room you step into, and if a door doesn’t open for you, build your own. Speak with confidence, stand firm in your knowledge, and remember that your presence is necessary. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, invest in your growth, and most importantly—never let fear dictate your moves. The world needs your brilliance, so shine unapologetically.
