She’s Bold, Brilliant, and Black: Meet Kandy Rose
What experiences in your life have helped you to become the bold woman you are today?
Life is a journey filled with highs and lows. I believe it’s the low points that have truly shaped me into the woman I am today. Navigating a divorce and overcoming a financial storm tested my strength. It also revealed my resilience and unwavering determination to push forward. It’s in those moments of struggle that I discovered my true power. The ability to rise, rebuild, and refuse to settle for anything less than my full potential. Every challenge I’ve faced has reinforced my belief that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. These experiences have given me the confidence to stand boldly, walk in purpose, and embrace every opportunity with courage and faith.
Who were your role models growing up and how did they influence your path?
My role models growing up were my parents. I was blessed to be raised by both. Their love, work ethic, and dedication to family deeply influenced my path. They instilled in me the value of education. Always encouraging me to pursue knowledge so that I could become anything I wanted to be. I watched them work hard, provide for our family, and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
My father, being self-employed, embodied the mindset that there is nothing you can’t do. That entrepreneurial spirit inspired me to create my own path, build something of my own, and leave a lasting legacy.
As a Black woman, have you faced any unique challenges that have impacted your journey? How have you navigated moments of adversity?
I can’t pinpoint a specific challenge solely tied to being a Black woman. I have certainly faced moments of adversity throughout my journey. I navigate these challenges by reminding myself that adversity is temporary. It is not a permanent state, but a season to push through. Instead of staying stagnant, I take intentional steps forward doing whatever is necessary to reach the other side. My faith is my anchor. I push through with morning devotion and prayer, allowing God to strengthen me. I release through journaling, shedding tears, or leaning on the support of close family and friends who uplift, pray for, and cover me. No matter how difficult the storm, I keep moving forward. Eventually, God always leads me to the other side, what I call the Promised Land.
How do you want your life and work to impact your community and the world?
I want my life and work to create opportunities for prosperity within my community, ensuring that everyone has the knowledge and resources to build a successful future. My goal is to lead by example, be transparent, and authentic.
I strive to empower individuals with financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and the confidence to take control of their own destinies. I want my impact to be generational, leaving a legacy that continues to uplift, educate, and inspire long after I’m gone. My mission is to be a model of success proving that with faith, perseverance, and knowledge, anything is possible.
What advice would you give to other Black women about owning their brilliance in spaces that attempt to dim their light?
Be exactly who God has called you to be and never shrink yourself to make others comfortable. In fact, let your light shine so boldly that it inspires others to seek greatness within themselves. Show up authentically and unapologetically as yourself. You never know who you are meant to serve, inspire, or uplift. Someone is always watching. You want them to see the real version of yourself. The one who walks in purpose and confidence. When you allow your light to shine, you give others permission to do the same, creating a ripple effect of empowerment, faith, and brilliance.
