Women Defying the Odds: Meet Hair Loss Practitioner Shanon Thomas

Mompreneur Shanon Thomas is a successful Master Cosmetologist, Hair Loss Practitioner, and owner of HNM Glam Spot Salon in Atlanta, Georgia. After pursuing a career in the healthcare industry, she built a thriving beauty business for women to access make-up artistry, nail care, and multiple hair services that treat hair loss, thinning, and scalp disorders.

Share the story of a specific challenge in your journey and how you navigated through it:

Before starting my Hair Loss Practitioner journey, I had to relocate my salon and lost a few clients due to the commute. While traveling between locations and taking classes, I also worked to market my business to new clientele. Although it was a stressful season, I couldn’t stop until I reached my goals. Once the new salon location was ready and I completed my certification, I embarked on my new journey.

Can you discuss how you maintained a resilient mindset through it all?

My main focus during this period of transition was my clientele. I knew I had a purpose to fulfill and I needed to go through the growth process to be the best stylist for them. I was also on a mission to be my best self so that I could keep them feeling and looking their best.

What moment would you consider to be a turning point in this particular journey?

The ultimate turning point was applying the knowledge I gained to help clients grow and maintain their hair. Their trust in my judgment, skills, and recommendations on what’s best for their scalp made it all worth the journey.

Any advice you can share for others facing similar challenges while balancing entrepreneurship?

Keep going! There are valuable lessons in delays and rejections that we need to pick up along the way. As we grow, the lessons will become significant in helping to mold us into better entrepreneurs.
